Brownstone is soft, and a century of New York weather takes it apart in a predictable order: the face spalls, the stoop cracks, the lintels and cornices lose their edges. Patching it with ordinary cement makes things worse — a harder patch traps moisture and pulls more stone off around it.

We cut back to sound material and rebuild with a mix matched to the original stone in colour, texture and strength, so repairs move with the building rather than against it. Stoops, steps, sills, lintels and cornices all get the same treatment.
