Pointing is the mortar between the bricks, and it fails long before the bricks do. Once joints are cracked, recessed or crumbling, water runs into the wall instead of off it — which is how you end up with damp inside, spalled brick faces and, eventually, structural repair.

We rake out the failed mortar to a proper depth, not just skim over it, and repoint with a mix matched to the existing work in both strength and colour. Matching matters twice over: a harder modern mix will damage soft old brick, and a mismatched colour is visible from the street for the life of the building.

How do I know if my pointing has failed?
Look for joints that are cracked, hollow or crumbling, mortar you can pick out with a key, or damp patches inside that line up with the wall outside.
Can you match the existing mortar?
Yes. We match both colour and strength — using a harder modern mix on soft older brick does real damage over time.
